Qualifying races

The Great Southern Stage Run, 17 – 19 November 2022

Everest 135 is proud to partner with The Great Southern Stage Run (GSSR) that is conducted in Australia, and advise that this is the only official Everest 135 qualifying event in the region.

The Great Southern Stage Run (GSSR) is a 3 day stage race over 200km of wild, rugged and incredibly beautiful terrain in the far south west corner of Australia. Following the spectacular Australian coastline, the course includes running on beaches, along cliff top trails, through dense forests and around rocky headlands on a wild journey from Walpole to Albany.

·         Day 1: 70km with 1,260m ascent

·         Day 2: 76km with 1,420m ascent

·         Day 3: 56km with 930m ascent

The course is a lot flatter, and at a lower altitude compared to the Everest 135 but the variety of terrain covered, the point to point journey of the course and the wild landscapes explored make this an ideal event for any Asian ultra runner.

There is extensive support available along the course with regular checkpoints, food and drinks provided and race officials to assist. Many runners will have their own support crew to assist them at designated locations.

Dates: 17 – 19 November 2022 and in mid November every year – 2023 and onwards. Walpole to Albany, WA.  www.GreatSouthernStageRun.com.au

Travel to the GSSR:

The GSSR is located in Western Australia, where the capital city (with international airport) is Perth. The GSSR course is 4hrs drive south of Perth along good sealed roads through nice country towns and cities.

The GSSR includes accommodation for competitors on night 2 and 3, with plenty of options for other nights. The event is held in a very popular, touristy region with plenty of other things to do such as visit wineries, experience the local wildlife, swim at beaches, eat at delightful restaurants and explore the local wilderness.
